Greetings,
Members talk about final design, cost etc.
Hoever, did not read about differend country's. A basic system would be expencieve for a ducht member if the basic-system
had to be ordered from the USA.
Example. I have the one-channel-waverider, also knowen as CEO (cognitive effecienty organiser)
It is the most cheap system in the market.
Cost: $545.00 (US dollar)
+ $45.00 shipping to netherlands (federal express)
+ $8.11 transfercost (all cost)
+ $73.00 BTW (tax) one must pay tax for itemsfrom outside the netherlands.
-------------------------
Tot. $671.11 and thats a lot of money.
You can do some maths on your ouw country, but think of an basic system sold for $100.00. + all the cost, will still make it
a lot of money for a lot of people. If whe would like to "point" at a specific group, then wich people do you mean ?
Lets think logic. Why did i ordered the CEO ?, because at the moment i needed a system to help me concentrating.
I could not build one myself for health reason, true, i alsways play with stuff like this. What i would like to say is that there
are people (i know them) who would like to have a system for health reasons(isn't that what NFB claims/promotes ?)
Okay, building a verry-low-cost machine is an adventure, it sounds like "non-profit" NFB.
So if the goal is to make nfb possible for everyone, then one must try to find a way to reduce cost. If a system/kit, could be
sold in US and EU, then whe in europe could buy a system. On the onther hand, it seems that there is a group (members)
who would like to pay for a basic system or do-it-yourself-kit. (to fool arround with it).
To buy in the US would almost double the price. (and vice versa).
For at the moment however, you must check wethr members are able of assembling a kit. First make the price, if ca 90
members would be willing to pay for a PCB + already prog/chips + sensors, then you could try to find third party to build
+/- 100 PCB's, prog/chips, sensors. if you know the price, then you could open an account, then members could pay the
cost. if everybody would do so (that is, if everybody would pay) then you could give third party the order.
(cost for minimum comp/pcb + shipping). The other components/serialcable can not be a problem.
In this case, a lot of members can build a basic system, test and use the system, and report to buildcheapeeg about
there progress, or about software design. As for now, i think only a few men are realy building a system, and only one
or so is programming. I have not a programmer unit, or for example a possibility for making a PCB.
If however i would have a basic-eeg, then the rest would be okay, eventual little programming in C++ would then be poss.
Then more people are realy working whit Joerg's basic system, and he would have plenty of feedback from members.
i think that there is a lot of writting, mails an discussion going on, wichis not of interrest at the moment.
The more people are at least trying to work with the eeg, or try to design a little sofware (appart from the main software)
then the discussion on the net would be more of benefit for the final EEG, while the "real" hardware men would have
a lot of feedback to help them solving problems.

Hi Rob, talking with Jim about it,
he remarks we haven't the final BASIC circuit yet-
I think your idea is very good when we'll have the final circuit,
but when we'll be trying the prototypes it a little hard to do it ;
but it may works .
In any case , count with me to share the costs . (I'll put my house
for selling :-))
Maybe it would be advisable that anyone who buy parts put the
prices in a table in
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/buildcheapeeg/database for we have the
best quote .
