The existing neurofeedback patents -- and there are dozens,
possibly hundreds of them in the U.S. alone -- cover not
schematics but general ideas, such as using feedback to
control games, or using certain protocols, etc.
With some of these patents, the claims appear to be so
broad that superficially, it looks almost impossible to
sell any kind of neurofeedback device without paying
royalties. :)

Ah, that's too bad. Are you going to stay there after
the course ends? Maybe study someplace else?

Both my partner on the other project and I have searched
the Web pretty carefully. We found a lot of good info and
some good source code for FFTs, but not that much about
IIR filters, and nothing at all on IIR filters that can be
tuned for desired threshholds on the fly.
We did find some code for generating IIR filter coefficients,
but it all assumes the coefficients are part of one long filter,
whereas in real life, the filter apparently needs to be
factorized or cascaded.
I did read a lot of messages about IIR filters in newsgroups.
I didn't see anything from anybody that made me think the
person had the skills that are needed here.
I did find some web sites where the people obviously
know how to write cascaded IIR filters, but they were
all commercial web sites for products designed for
this purpose. And they are EXPENSIVE! :)
Rob
