Hello everybody:
I just wanted to pledge my willingness to help out however I can with
this exciting project. I am a student of mathematical neurology at
NYU in New York, but I have only touched an EEG machine once or twice.
I have a particular interest in EEG use in studies of musical
cognition.
So if somebody wants to detail what technical help is still needed for
the project, I would gladly post something at NYU about it, which has
a pretty large neuroscience department. Maybe I should simply post
the info from the front page of this group?
For anybody who is interested in references to biofeedback in the
mainstream media, there was a very interesting piece on the
"Scientific American Frontiers" TV program last week (which is on PBS
in the USA), about electrode implants which stimulate movement of
muscles in paralyzed patients; mention was made of one man who has an
EEG-controlled electrode in his hand, who has trained himself to the
point that he can close or open his hand by thinking about it. (Of
course the technology is not very portable yet.) It must be a very
freeing experience. A link to info on that program is here:

As for the naming of the website and the machine, I don't want to
confuse things further, but I think another good name would be
OPEN EEG, or OPEN MIND, or something like that, because of the open
design and source. I still like Cheap EEG, too.
I would be happy to toss in a few dollars for the web site.
Thanks guys! I hope I can help you out in the future.
