Potential uses for the device

Yaniv back-channeled me asking how I thought non-therapists might use
our machine, whether alcoholics might be able to treat themselves
with it, etc. I thought my response might be of some interest to the
rest of the group, and so am sharing it here:

Hi Yaniv--
In a week or 2 I should be able to get down to doing
something about the software question. In the meantime, let me say
that I think alcoholics and survivors of traumatic stress are the
people who _most_ need to have a therapist on hand when they use EEG
biofeedback in treating their problems, at least if you're talking
about alpha-thetra biofeedback. That is because much of the healing
process involves verbal processing of the mental events they
experience during the session, and this work really requires a
therapist. This article will give you some idea of what I'm talking
about:

Probably the safest and simplest thing for "amateurs" to do
with this equipment is to train alpha to enhance peak performance.
Also, one could use some sort of theta-suppress, beta-enhance
technique to improve atttention. Also, if the software is capable of
showing a bilateral Mind-Mirror display of stacked bars, one could
practice some of the techniques developed by Cade in England and
discussed by Anna Wise in her book _the High Performance Mind_.

I trust you won't mind if I also post my above comments to
the group.

Best Regards
Jim
