I assume that the 50 Hz is stray line voltage from somewhere (I
assume you are in a 50Hz country, unlike the US, which is 60Hz).

Also, the signal requires the presence of brain activity. Was your
brain turned on? (Please forgive attempt at humor; retaliation in
kind is more than acceptable.)

Did you check electrode impedances? Were the contacts good?
