SBaGen sequenced binaural beat generator

Hello all !

I've just joined these two groups. I heard about the project from
Moritz v. Buttlar who found me through my SBaGen project on
sourceforge. I've been interested in building an EEG for some time,
but I never had the technical electronics knowledge to pull it off.
(I was also having trouble finding silver electrodes, but he's given
me a link for those now.)

Moritz suggested that I give a quick description of my software since
this is likely to be interesting to members of this group.

My software generates stereo tones (and tone-sets), that can be played
through headphones or speakers, which generate binaural beats in the
brain. It is possible to entrain the brain-waves to precise
frequencies or combinations of frequencies in this way (provided the
subject is willing to relax). For the full theory, see the Monroe
Institute pages linked off the SBaGen pages.

Anyway, my software allows you to design and play both individual
tone-sets and pre-programmed sequences of tone-sets. I use it for
night-time sessions, where I pre-program a whole night, including a
wake-up sequence for the end. Other individual users I've heard back
from have used it for everything from enhancing music to aiding sleep,
and even for controlling certain mental (or mind-related) conditions.

These people have found the frequencies that worked for them through
trial and error, with no feedback except their own experiences. I'm
sure a cheaply-available EEG would be useful to many people, even
without more sophisticated features such as a direct feedback loop via
binaurals or whatever (which itself might open up many more
possibilities).

I truly don't know how many people use my software as the mailing list
is very quiet (only about 25 people), and other people only seem to
write to me if they happen to need a new feature.

Anyway, the software is GPL'd freeware for both Linux and Windows (the
Windows version has only recently been released). You can pick it up
either from my web-site or from sourceforge:

I'll be following discussions here with interest, and if someone gives
me an idea of how far you've got with your project, I'll post a notice
on the SBaGen mailing list, and I'll put links on the SBaGen pages
when you have a web-site.

Cheers -

Jim
