There already are a number of different EEGs schematics.
There are two 2-channel EEG designs that use microcontrollers.

There are three 1-channel low-cost EEGs that do not require
a microcontroller, two of them use RS232 interfaces and one
uses the PC game port.

If you want to look at the schematics you need the Eagle
(freeware) CAD software, you can find it here.

Apparently there are some working prototypes of these.
They are buildable now. The RS232EEG dowload above
includes schematics, PCB design, firmware, testing
notes, sample data stream, parts list, etc. There is
also some PC software (binary executable only).

Current seems to be focused on ModularEEG, which is a
better design with a different input stage. As soon as
Joerg says it's ready I'm going to try building one of
those. Nobody seems to be talking much about a group
order of PCBs, so if I have to etch one manually I
will give it a try.

It's definitely possible, but the big question is where
do the up-front funds come from to do production, and
who can make it happen? We have the hardware almost in
the frying pan already. Work on software is also needed.
I have no idea how a group like this can assemble these
things other than just as individuals.

That was an entry in a TI contest, not the prototypes.
The prototypes are above. BTW I had nothing to do with
any of this, I just found out recently myself about all
of the above. Joerg Hansman has done a LOT of work on
hardware design. I'm looking forward to having a go at
building the ModularEEG.
