Yes, I know. Since nobody but me (and a perhaps a few others) will
build this very first version, I can just as well put the design on a
performance and cost level that suits me. And I don't particularily
like drilling some 300+ holes either, that's why it is surface-
mount. :-) Don't worry, I will return to the cheaper options, based
on through hole parts (and TinyAVR perhaps), in due time but I need
to get into it a bit first.

That's basically what it's going to look like. The amplifier is done,
the ADC/uC is in the works and if you look closely at that schematic
you'll find a LED. It is used for data transmission. The receiver is
on another board, not designed yet.

The power bit is very simple (at least in theory, before practical
tests). A couple of batteries and low-dropout linear regulators is
all that there is to it. Also, the batteries can be replaced with the
output from a DC/DC-converter and possibly a voltage inverter.

Taking these pieces apart and combining them with other people's
designs should be fairly simple.
