Safety issues revisited. My 2 cents...

Hi Joerg and Jim and everybody else,

I just want to throw my 2 cents worth in the DC/DC-converter and
general safety discussion, and ask Joerg a question.

http://www.tracopower.com

has a lot of stuff, you've probably been to their site before,
because you are using a TMV0505 converter now.

My question, and opinion is: Have you checked out their THI series of
DC/DC converters? Do you know how much they cost? I failed to find a
price... If they are affordable, perhaps they could be used, if not,
I doubt that we can find anything much cheaper anywhere else.

I think I know where this comes from.
The biosemi system uses active electrodes, that are very close to wet
stuff, especially when they are rechloridized. So, for them, there is
a real risk that water can seep into the electrode through a
microscopic crack or something and cause a short-circuit. That's not
as likely to happen with passive electrodes though.

But I'd be interested to learn about some solutions though...

This site may be interesting:
http://www.601help.com

especially the books-section. Unfortunately there is no solid info
here, just references. My conclusion is that if we could spend some
money on the right litterature, a lot of these safety issues would be
resolved right away. Perhaps we could find a sponsor? For a
corporation/large organization the kind of money involved is peanuts.

Just a few thoughts,

Andreas
