My plans are almost finished. BUT the result is a bit expensive, so

levels without changing the specs too much.
Currently, a 2 channel model would have 187 parts of over 40
different types and cost $188. A 4 channel model would cost $243.
Changing to cheaper semiconductors would not help very much, the
passives (resistors and capacitors) alone go for $100 in a 2 channel
model.
In volume production, (> 100 units) you could probably cut the cost
in half...
Personally, I have no problems building this, but obviously it is
*not* for everyone. Because my time is not unlimited, I'd like to
create one project everyone can benefit from rather than doing twice
the work in two separate projects.
One reason for the high cost is the fact that passives usually must
be purchased in batches of ten, even if only one is needed. Using
fewer part types will help a lot in bringing the price down, so
that's what I'm working on now.
Joerg, how is your version coming along?
