I will try both ways when I get to the building stage.

It is possible that the filter is overkill in some (most?) instances,
but can you really be sure about what kind of interference exists
above 60Hz and is picked up by the body? The filter guarantees that
there is no aliasing within the filter amplifier bandwidth (< 1MHz).
