Is Vision a software package? A quick web search reveals several imaging
software packages with the name "Vision" in them, but I found no reference to
file formats. You may want to give BrainVision another call to get more
information on the data format they refer to (such as the company/group which
defined the Vision Data Exchange Format, document specificaions and/or relevant
links to those specs on the web).

Currently, the OpenEEG group is using a modified version of the European Data
Format for this project. More information on it can be found here:

Hopefully you will be able to get the full specification for the data file
format and not have to resort to deciphering it with a hex editor. If the
recorder came with software that will record a session to disk and they
indicate that it is in a publically available (or even proprietary, if they are
willing to release the specs to you) format, then you will be able to write the
Java routines you need to read the file. (Also, I am gathernig that, while you
said that you have not purchased the analyzer software, that the recorder did
at least come with software to write the live session to disk?)

That would be great to see. Good luck on your project!

Dave.
