I have been lurking for awhile, so I might as
well speak now. I am sure that many people follow
this group, but most of it is over their head. (myself
included) I'm sure there will be a bum-rush when the
first real version is released, because there is a lot
of unrealized demand out there.
I have minor electronics experience, program
C/C++, and have an interest in bioinstrementation.
I'm looking to get involved, but I'm not sure exactly
where we are right now. So I have a few questions.
1. How well does the hardware work right now?
2. Is a serial port going to have enough bandwidth?
a. For biofeedback?, i.e. AlphaTrainer (pretty sure
it will have that much.)
b. For basic eeg biofeedback?
c. For smooth realtime pro. grade recordings?
d. For electromyography (need clear waveform of
2-5ms waveform for SMU detection) 2-4kHz would do it.
3. Have you considered using a USB port?
I just got a protoboard with power supply, so I will
probally try to start experimenting soon. I don't
have much electroncs experience, but just fooling
around is often the best teacher.
I am hoping for some discussion about:
1. What are the current problems?
2. What needs to be done now?
The hardware is going to have to procede before
the software, unless you are willing to release a
spec. and stick to it, which could slow us down. I
also think that 1 platform (win) needs to be chosen,
and then the software can be ported to linux, etc. As
long as you start with the idea of eventually porting
that is the best way to do things (IMHO).
Sorry to ramble, but does anyone have any
experience with any soundcard based EEGs? Also I
apologize if I am asking n00b questions, but I have
read quite a bit and think discussion is the way to
further my knowledge of the project. Any links or
references would be appreciated.
