I'm excited by the notion that these machines can be certified;
that will make it much easier for me to get a bunch of them into the
hands of clinicians. At the same time, I'm very much interested in
keeping a non-certified version available. There is a tendency for
the medical profession to grab up all kinds of things and get them
out of our control on the presumption that we're too dumb to keep
from hurting ourselves. Or at least that's what they say--I suspect
it has more to do with monopolizing as many potential profit centers
as they can, and keeping tight reins on anything people might use to
help themselves without intervention from the white-coat priesthood.
I think that the educational uses of these devices will vastly
outweigh the medical/clinical applications, but only if the
technology remains in the hands of the people.
If I'm not mistaken, Lexicor sells their PODs as non-medical
devices, but with limited programming capabilities. The POD is more
or less the same as their NRS-2d machines except for the software. I
imagine the Collura people could sell the BrainMasters this way too
if they wanted to.
