hi rob
nice - you know important people . dalai lama's biographer - cool :)
sorry for the long letter - but i'll be gone for 3 weeks or more :)
before i go to tibet , i have maybe some ideas what can be done about
the tibetian people's situation :
one thing that can be done is to make them availble psychological
techniqeus like neurofeedback , emdr , and eft .
i feel that these techniques are maybe in the same spirit with
teachings of the buddha of love compassion and wisdom , and can help
the tibetian people in there fight to conserve there culture of
compassion , wisdom and love .
maybe if these new powerfull techniques (and maybe others) would be
introduced to the dalai lama in the context of empowering tibetian
people and tibetian buddhizm , of course according to the buddhizm -
he would see the usefullness of them and teach them to his people .
my feeling that given these techniques and the immense will power of
tibetian people - they will find new ways to make buddhizm live -
even under chinese goverment - and maybe become much more powerfull.
and about making neurofeedback availble under chinese goverment -
even if the chinese wuldn't want it to happend - i thhink that it is
pretty easy technologicly and socially to make it happen.
another thing is :
like there's a meeting between dalai lama and scientists every year -
there should meeting with him and people who do neurofeedback ,
emdr , eft etc (rapid psychological etchinques) - so that both sides
could learn , and also if the dalai lama sees somthing usefull he
could use his remarkable publicity power to let people know about it .
another thing is to open research that compares finding of
neurofeedback with tibetian knowldge - and make it :
1. widely availble over the net
2. known also to tibetian lamas monks and teachers .
for example - it would be very interesting i think to share knowldge
about the crossover frequency - and also to make this knowldge very
more avilble to people
so in short inroducing dalai lama to rapid psychological techniques
9in these forms and maybe others ) could be very very usefull.
but that's all thoughts - before i know anything .
but again it must be in the context of helping his tradition and not
destoying or replacing it - because destroying or replacing tibetian
budhizm is the last thing dalai lama needs now :(
also another buddhist guy that introducing him to this knowldge would
be very usefull would be thich naht han . he is a very known
buddhist , and also believes in a buddhizm without dogma .
if you can connect with him and start a dialogu about neurofeedback's
place in buddhizm would be very very good , i think .
and for another issue - i think that making the neurofeedback device
very low cost maybe won't be enough for elimination of adhd .
the other problems we will face are :
1. how to diagnose adhd in children simply
2. lack of awareness from teachers and parents
3. money for the nfb instructors .
so my feeling is maybe we somebody should start a newsgroup like this
focused on making nfb a widespread treatment for adhd .
there should be nfb practicioners , teachers , students n teaching
schools , marketing people .
the group would be focused on solving these 3 problems .
after the trip to tibet i think i'll be more then happy to join such
a group to see what i can help :)
anyway thanks for reading all my thought - now my head is empty
again - as usual :)
so bye for now rob , good luck
and see you after tibet .
sincerly
yaniv v.
