Hi,
Thanks for your interesting experiment. I did it a couple of times and allturned out as expected. To take this experiment further, I made myself thoughtless while the double image appeared. Guess what? The object completely disappeared for a very short moment. It appeared again when I had the thought: It disappears! This may prove one thing: When the brain stops functioning, no image will be projected.
Please don't ask me how I could stop thinking. It's very difficult and takes years of practice.

I think I found another way to do this when i was young. never knew what i was doing, it was just something I did when I was bored.
hold a finger, hand, or small object a foot or so in front of between your eyes (or whatever distance is comfortable). let your eyes relax so that you are focused beyond the object.
You should see a double image of the object. Let your mind focus (not eyefocus, mental focus) on one of them. Think in your head that that one is the real one. The image you are focusing on should become clearer and the other one should fade slightly. If you practice it, you can find that you canmake one image seem to completely disapear.

Vision is another area where hemispheric dominance occurs. The
following exercise allows you to observe this process and control it.
* * * * * *

As you look at this illustration, (print it,please from web. Im not
able attach pictures - Vladimir) cross your eyes so you see a third
circle between the blue and red one. When you get your eyes focused
right, the middle circle will seem to have a cross on it.
The farther back you sit, the less eyestrain you'll feel. I sit at
least three feet back.
Watch the cross on the third circle. Every few seconds, it will
change from a horizontal line to a vertical line and back. This is
because the hemispheres of your brain are alternating in dominance
for this activity. When the right hemisphere is dominant you see the
blue circle and vertical line on top; when the left hemisphere is
dominant, the red circle and horizontal line are on top.
