I didn't say it could be done quickly, but there is
power in the open source model. Look at linux relative
to windows. My linux machines never crash, there are
no viruses, and there is tons of free software. Linux
is also all over the embedded market, going places that
windows probably never will go.
More people are getting interested in biofeedback
every day it seems, and a lot of them are engineers.
With a good and open hardware design, it's conceivable
that a large following of hackers could lead to the
something that matches commercial software. There are
four factors that make openeeg a very attractive
alternative for people who want to write software:
1) You can built it for cheap
2) Brainmaster protocols/specs are now closed
3) Waverider DLL (programming) option costs BIG $
4) Most other low-cost EEGs have closed protocols
