There are chips from FTDI that make it very easy to implement (and program)
USB devices with up to 8Mbytes/s transfer rate. Linux drivers and Windows
drivers
exist.
I think there won't be much left of RS232 in 5 years. So for the future
it'd be neat to make
a USBEEG.
