Hi Oli,
the design is modularized to the extent that there is
a) one board with a microcontroller (with built in ADC) and RS232
interface (opto-isolated).
b) one board with a pair of bio-amplifiers
The boards connect to each other using a 34-lead ribbon cable with
enough room for 6 analog channels and a bunch of digital control
lines as well, meaning you can add more boards later to get more
functionality.
Considering the amount of time it took to get here, I doubt there
will significant changes anytime soon. As long as the configuration
of the 34-lead cable remains unchanged, there should not be any
problems.
Note that we cut some costs by not having a proper anti-aliasing
filter. This is no different from how the original ("free")
Brainmaster worked (according to the its schematics). But, due to the
modular nature, a board with filters can be added later if desired.
(If anyone has any hands-on (EEG) experience that says "you must use
proper filters, because...", now is the time to say so.)
Regards,
Andreas
PS. Sorry for any delays in responding, but there's an incredible
amount of things to do right now. DS.
