There seems to be a lot of compatibiliy issues over this libXv
(needed for BWView). Here's a Redhat bug report, I've seen similar
for Suse and others.

The above page says ...
XFree86 as shipped in source form, predefines what libraries are shared,
and what libraries are NOT shared. The ones that are not shared, are
not shared for a _very_ good reason. Their API/ABI is not considered
stable by the XFree86 core team, who reserve the right to change this
at any time, even without bumping the .so version numbers. This is the
reason that the libs are not shared in XFree86 by default.
The above page says ...
- build shared libXv & libXxf86dga separately for compat reasons

Because most apps use these features optionally. If you link against
Xv your app will not work unless you have the libraries on your system.
Which means it won't work on a 3.3.x system even if your app doesn't
require Xv.
Jim, any comments on this? Is Xv required or optional?
Do I have to link Xv?
