OpenEEG as a centre for open+cheap EEG designs+software

It occurred to me that SYG's [*] EEG unit will also be an "OpenEEG",
since he says the design and software will be open-source.

This suggests a way forwards -- that OpenEEG could stand for the idea
rather than for a single design and a single program. We already have
that already, really, with all the different EEG units designed by
Joerg and Andreas. We might well be heading that way with the
software too.

The aim of the group could be to help people find good and cheap
open-source EEG solutions, in addition to the existing aims of trying
to organize open-source design, coding and manufacture (i.e. to do it
if no-one else has done it, or to improve on what's already there).

So, based on this, I think we should link from the OpenEEG pages to
*all* known open designs. This includes SYG's design, if he has a
web-site, and also the older BrainMaster designs and so on.

Someone hitting the site, looking for a way to get an affordable and
open-source EEG unit should (eventually) be able to find
recommendations of good projects to try to build, or places where
pre-built designs or kits can be purchased. If they have the
technical know-how, they can also be pointed to plans and PCB files or
whatever.

Does this sound useful ? It seems to me that we're going to have to
accomodate more than one project under the umbrella of OpenEEG. For
instance, Doug's wearable software is probably going to be nothing
like a GUI Windows app, but still there is scope for sharing code and
ideas.

What do you think ?

Jim

[* Sorry, SYG, I don't know which of your names is the one to call you ]
