I think everyone can benefit from the state of enlightment without any riskeven one is not a believer of anything. True enlightment has little or nothing to do with supernatural powers. True enlightment returns one to his original state of mind, i.e. his pure consciousness. Enlightened people would be so conscientious that he is able to handle any power that he possessincluding supernatural powers or else he would not be truly enlightened.
It is true that one does not need to be enlightened in order to have these powers. However, if one is obsessed with these powers, it'd be very difficult for him to transcend his desires. Not to mention, to be enlightened. As I mentioned in my previous message, the most important element of a NFB system would be its method. A good method should be able to guide users toward true enlightment.
For the supernatural power we commonly referred to is still the product of our superficial consciousness, they would only keep us away from the reality. Besides, any of these power would consume enormous energy and make our lives much shorter. True enlightment would on the other hand bring to us true supernatural powers resulted from our pure consciousness instead of superficial consciousness

I don't believe anyone here meant that it would instantly make someone enlightened, just help someone find a state of mind that could help lead to enlightenment. Enlightenment is a state of mind, wisdom, and knowledge. Mirroring brainwaves would only directly help with the first. But with time andpractice could help someone gain the other two. The keyword here is 'help'.
I think, at least in some cases, it could be dangerous. You wouldn't wantto train someone this way who believes in nothing. It could work as a shortcut to things that often come with enlightenment (i.e. emapthic ability, visions, etc), but they would not have the necessary discipline to deal withit. Even someone who is not as enlightened as they think, could be unable to handle it.
This is the way I see it.
discipline, meditation, learning --> enlightenment --> visions, supernatural abilities, etc
I think it is possible to skip the middle step (I have seen and heard of many who seemed to have done this to a great degree), but it's probably nota good idea.
If anyone were to try to do this, I would suggest to go at it cautiously, and always keep in mind that what we know is insgnificant to what we do not know.
